You may know about CBD and its many benefits, but are you familiar with the ins and outs of CBD oil and CBD tincture, and the difference between the two? Understanding the similarities and differences between CBD oil and CBD tincture are important steps in choosing the product and solutions that may be right for you!
CBD Explained
Cannabidiol, more commonly known as CBD, is a modern-day remedy that is natural and has gained popularity quickly in the past few years. CBD is one of the 100 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids found in cannabis. But wait, before you get it mixed up -- cannabis is a family of different plants. Marijuana and hemp both fall under that family. While you may associate the marijuana plant with “getting high,” this is not the case with CBD. CBD is not a psychoactive, and therefore does not cause the sensation of “getting high.” And all our CBD products are 100% THC-free.
What is CBD Oil?
So what is CBD oil exactly? CBD Oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant and diluting it with a carrier oil. Essentially, the oil from the flowers and stalks of the hemp plant are extracted and mixed with other ingredients to dilute the CBD and make it more easily absorbable to the body. Our CBD tinctures use MCT (coconut oil) to help deliver the CBD.. yes, that’s it. CBD, plant-based flavoring, and MCT oil!
CBD can be a very viable pain-relief option without many of the side-effects of marijuana or other strong pharmaceutical drugs. This is one of the primary reasons that its popularity has exploded in the realm of health and pain-relief as of late. If integrated into a well-rounded health regimen, CBD oil can support cellular and overall general wellness. In summary, CBD oil has numerous medicinal and therapeutic advantages without any of the psychoactive side-effects.
What is CBD Tincture?
Now that you are more familiar with what CBD oil is- the question remains: what is CBD tincture? A tincture is any medication made by dissolving cannabis in alcohol, so in this case, CBD tincture is CBD that has been suspended and distilled in alcohol. These tinctures act as extracts of hemp combined with other ingredients to create a liquid, usable form. This result is essentially the potent liquid that will deliver the effects of the CBD to your body in whichever way you choose to consume it. Alcohol extraction is a very safe and effective way to extract CBD from the hemp plant.
CBD Oil vs. CBD Tincture
While there are many similarities between CBD oil and CBD tincture, their differences are significant and valuable to know. The four main subjects of differentiation when understanding CBD oil vs. CBD tincture are the base, the potency, the price, and the shelf life, as described below.
The Base
First and foremost, CBD tinctures have an alcoholic base. While this is the case for most CBD tinctures, ours actually have an MCT (coconut oil) base.
Potency
Additionally, CBD oil is typically more potent than tinctures -- (but that didn’t stop us from including twice as many mg of CBD than industry standards).
Price
As a result of the varying potency levels, CBD oil is often more expensive than CBD tinctures. We offer a variety of affordable CBD tincture options in several different flavors.
Shelf Life
Lastly, CBD tinctures typically have a long shelf life, while CBD oils, in comparison, have a much lower shelf life. As noted, CBD tinctures are made with alcohol, which also acts as a preservative, in this care prolonging the life of the CBD itself.
While there are significant differences between CBD oil and CBD tincture, at the end of the day they are both used medicinally and therapeutically to relieve inflammation, stress, anxiety, and to generally improve other wellness factors. It is important to understand the differences and choose which consumption and transportation method is right for you, but overall, you are getting the same wellbeing benefits with the absence of any psychoactive impacts!
