International Women's Day

This one’s for all the ladies

This weekend, we’re admiring our ladies Alice Walker, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Gloria Steinem, Malala Yousafzai…. The ones who refused to tone themselves down. To shrink to fit places they’ve already outgrown. The one’s who have done (and continue to do) the dirty work so others can claim stake on their dreams.

Women have fought so dang hard to balance all the preconceived notions of a female’s role; as mothers, employees, friends, daughters, wives, that there’s not much room for their own wellbeing. In fact, there is a massive stress gap between men and women that no one seems to be talking about. So, let’s dive in, shall we?

First of all gals—you’re doing it. You’re earning more college and graduate degrees than men, you make up half the workforce, and the number of women in executive roles at Fortune 500 companies is at an all-time high (and still climbing).

But that responsibility—along with a skewed career-caretaker balance—comes with stress. And a lot of it. Not only are women 50% more stressed than men, but according to UW Health, women are more likely to internalize that stress (cue the go-to, “I’m fine” line).  And there are so many deeper complications that come along with those internalized emotions—like insomnia, physical tension, headaches, and anxiety. And then throw in hormone fluctuations, workplace stress, social media, and parenting to the mix and you have yourself a full buffet of options to stress about.

So, on this International Women’s day, week, month (year)!?!? We’re dropping this here as your reminder to take a moment for you. Spending time with yourself—whether it’s a skincare routine you do each night, carving out a walk in your cal, painting your nails during your lunch break—is absolutely essential. And you deserve it.

To celebrate we thought we’d leave a weekend agenda for you:

FRIDAY: BUBBLE BATH NIGHT

Get into it. Light a candle, put on your playlist, close the door, and maybe throw in a couple drops of CBD oil while you’re at it.

SATURDAY: MEDIATE

A medi-whatty?? Don’t worry, that’s what Wild Wellness is for. Get those candles back out, put on one of our 10-minute meditations and relax.

SUNDAY: MAKE SOMEONE ELSE VACCUUM OR GET YOUR FAV MEAL DELIVERED.

Don’t you move a muscle. We know the dishes are screaming your name. But that’s tomorrow’s problem.

And we’ll end on these words from Frida Kahlo… “Not fragile like a flower, fragile like a bomb.”
